Sosnovoborsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai

Sosnovoborsk (Russian Сосновоборск ) is a town in Krasnoyarsk (Russia) with 33 091 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 45 km northeast of the regional capital of Krasnoyarsk, on the right bank of the Yenisei.

The city Sosnovoborsk is the region administratively subordinated directly.

Sosnovoborsk is located on a branch route of the Trans -Siberian Railway, which Krasnoyarsk with the "closed city " Zheleznogorsk connects (only freight, Zheleznogorsk is another 20 km northeast of Sosnovoborsk ).

History

Sosnovoborsk was formed in 1971 as a workers' settlement with the construction of the Krasnoyarsk plant for automotive and tractor trailer north-east of the village. In 1973 it received the name Sosnovoborsk (of Russian sosnowy laboratory for the widespread around pine forests). At times the site was part of the Lenin Rajons the city of Krasnoyarsk, but received city rights in 1985 as an independent city.
