The Stadio Carlo Castellani is a football stadium with track and field facility in the Italian town of Empoli, Tuscany region.

History

The stadium is primarily used by the football club FC Empoli and was opened on 12 September 1965. It offers 19,847 spectators and was named after Carlo Castellani, a former player of the club, in a concentration camp was killed during the Second World War, named.

The Stadio Carlo Castellani is not closed completely, but consists of several grandstand elements surrounding the athletics track and the football field. The two- echelons grandstand offers approximately 5500 spectators and is mostly covered as only one. On the back straight, the only grandstand is the only reserved for local football supporters, as well as the very temporary aspect of tubular steel stands behind the goals, however, was completely without a canopy. A total of 12,139 seats and 7708 standing places available.

After the FC Empoli had qualified in the season 2006/ 07 for the UEFA Cup, some parts of the stadium were replaced to meet the requirements of UEFA. At the competition, the club still did not participate due to lack of permission from the Uefa.
