Career

Stefano d'Aste began his international career in 2004 in the European Touring Car Championship, which he finished in seventh place in the Independents' Trophy.

In 2005 he moved to Proteam Motorsport in the World Touring Car Championship, where he sat behind the wheel of a BMW 320i. Although he had collected so far not a single championship point, pulled d'Aste to the race weekend at Spa -Francorchamps in the spotlight. As he finished the first run only ranked 16, had to borrow from far behind in the second race. On the wet track he struggled before getting further and lay a few corners before the finish line just behind the leading group. In the Bus Stop chicane there a conflict between the leaders occurred. In order to avoid the accident, shortened d'Aste from the chicane and then as crossed the finish line first. However, after the race, he received a time penalty that put him back to second place. Nevertheless, this was his best result in the World Touring Car Championship. The season he finished third in the Independents' Trophy.

There was a 2006, another year at Proteam Motorsport. Although ended d'Aste three races as the best privateer, but remained championship points this time out. This was also due to strengthened work teams with new vehicles, against the old BMW 320i was not sufficiently competitive. A chance of championship points he had in the second race in Istanbul. However, he was lying entangled in the front ranks of points in a collision and as a result eat backwards passed. In the Independents' Trophy, he defended his third place. 2007 joined d'Aste Wiechers - Sport to where he received a newer BMW 320si now. Although he remained without points, but he was able to win the Independents' Trophy for by consistent results with a narrow margin. For the 2008 season d'Aste returned to Proteam Motorsport. In the second race at Brands Hatch he could for the first time after three years with seventh place achieve championship points. Although he finished several races as the best privateer, he lost his title in the Independents' Trophy, in which he reached only third place.

Again was a change to Wiechers - Sport before the 2009 season. However, the envisaged title win in the Independents' Trophy could not reach d'Aste despite several races as the best privateer. In many cases, he was lying unhappily involved in a promising position in collisions, so a sixth place in the first race at Oschersleben remained his only points placement. So he finished the season in third place again in the Independents' rating. 2010 d'Aste go back for Proteam Motorsport at the start.
