Sunyani Municipal District

The Sunyani Municipal District is one of 138 districts in Ghana. It is located in the center of Ghana in the Brong- Ahafo Region, where one of 19 regional districts. It is bordered by the districts of Tain, Wenchi, Berekum, Dormaa, Tano North, Kintampo South and Asutifi in the Brong- Ahafo Region. It also borders the Ashanti Region with their district Offinso. The district is adjacent to the district Techiman Municipal the only urban district in the region.

Geography

In the center of the Brong- Ahafo Region located, the district has a total urban structure. The temperature is between 23 and 33 degrees C, the district is located in the semi - humid zone and has two rainy seasons, from April to Julie, and between September and October. The annual average fall on a square 945.69 mm of rain; the area is so equipped in a national comparison with rather average rainfall.

In the south, grows moist forest, in the northern part of the district the land is overgrown with bush savannah.

Constituencies

In the district of Sunyani two constituencies have been established. In Sunyani East constituency won one of the most famous politicians of Ghana, Joseph Henry Mensah, the constituency for the party New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in the 2004 parliamentary elections the seat in the Ghanaian parliament. Mensah is a senior adviser to the minister of the President. In Sunyani West constituency Kwadwo Adjei - Darko also won by the NPP seat in Parliament.
