Sürpriz

Sürpriz (Turkish: "Surprise ") was a German -Turkish pop group who represented Germany at the Euro Vision Song Contest 1999. It consisted entirely of Turkish origin artists.

Band History

The group was founded by bandleader Cihan Özden specifically for the Euro Vision Song Contest, finishing with her, written by Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger Title trip to Jerusalem - Kudüs'e seyahat at the German preliminary decision on 12 March 1999 in Bremen, ranked second behind Corinna May Once this has been disqualified because their song is not the then rules corresponding to ( previous CD release ), Sürpriz were sent as German representative to the euro Vision song Contest in Jerusalem.

Previously, however, the participation would have been almost prevented because the OGAE Germany eV, a German fan club for the song contest, tried to portray the title Journey to Jerusalem as a plagiarism of the former, also composed by Ralph Siegel song Where are we headed. This was 1984, published as a B- side of the single Tingel tangling man with whom participated in the Harmony Group Four at the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest. This was, as in the case of May, again raised the question according to the rule conformity. Thereby, the group missed the registration deadline for the competition.
