Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's 200 metre individual medley
The competition of the women 's 200m individual medley at the 2012 Olympics in London was held on July 30 and 31 2012 at the London Aquatics Centre. 34 athletes took part.
There were five heats. The 16 fastest swimmers of all heats qualified for the two semi-finals, which were held on the same day. For the finale, the fastest eight swimmers qualified both semi-finals.

Ye Shiwen winner in this competition could improve the Olympic record two times. Shiwen, which was also on the 400 meter distance Olympic champion (28 July 2012) is the sixth swimmer, the fifth in a row that the double wins over 200 and 400 meters individual medley.
