The Emancipation of Mimi is the tenth studio album by American pop singer Mariah Carey, who is privately called Mimi.

The album is largely responsible for the comeback of the singer in 2005 due to its good sales numbers as it has helped Mariah Carey from the sale of the previous albums deep Charmbracelet and Glitter.

The original version of the album spawned four singles; among which are the pre - decoupling It's Like That, the U.S. single Shake It Off Get Your Number by Jermaine Dupri and the ballad We Belong Together.

In 2006, the album and its singles was honored with eight Grammy nominations. The album won the award in the category " Best Contemporary R & B Album ", the song We Belong Together was named "Best R & B Song" and Mariah Carey for the vocal performance on this song with the Grammy Award for " Best Female R & B Vocal Performance " excellent.
