The Mind's I (album)

The Mind's I is the third studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. It appeared in 1997 on Osmose Productions and was the last album the band for this record label.

Formation

After the relatively technically precipitated previous album The Gallery, the musicians wanted to make the new album a bit easier. Guitarist Niklas Sundin said in an interview that every Dark Tranquillity album represented a response to the predecessor. In The Mind's I, the musicians wanted to limit the songs on the essential things.

The recordings took place in Gothenburg in Studio Fredman. Produced The Mind's I by Fredrik Nordström and the band. As a guest musician can be heard in the song Insanity 's Crescendo Sara Svensson. For the songs Zodijackyl Light and Hedon music videos were filmed.

Title list

The Mind's I was re-released in 2005 by Century Media. The album contained a different album cover, the four songs from the EP Enter Suicidal Angels, two live videos and the music video for the song Hedon.

Reception

Frank Stoever by the German magazine Rock Hard wrote in his review that " the slight musical changes of the band stood to shame ." With the new song material the band would " underline its leading position within the genre ," for which he forgave 8.5 out of ten. According to Robert Mueller of the German Metal Hammer it understand Dark Tranquillity " complex structures around the catchy Riffmotive their relatively close to the traditional metal settled songs to weave ". Mueller missed six of seven points.
