Thredbo, New South Wales

Thredbo Village is a ski resort with just 500 inhabitants, in the Snowy Mountains, a mountain range in New South Wales, Australia. The village lies in the valley of the Thredbo River, is located close to Mount Kosciuszko, the highest mountain in Australia, and is part of the administrative area of ​​the Snowy River Shire.

History

In July 1997, a landslide buried 19 people, only one man was found alive after three days. His fate and the Thredbo disaster have been filmed in the TV-Movie Heroes ' Mountain of 2002.

In January 2003 bushfires destroyed large areas of forest.
