Tyler Spurgeon

Tyler Spurgeon ( born April 10, 1986 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for EC KAC in the Austrian Hockey League since August 2010.

Career

Spurgeon began his career with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, one of the three major Canadian junior leagues, where he spent five seasons while also held the positions of Assistant Captains and later the team captain. During this time he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers to a relatively late position. In the summer of 2005 he had to undergo surgery on the shoulder undergo, but proceeded without further complications.

His first professional engagement in 2006, where he ran aground in a total of 39 appearances for the ECHL team Stockton Thunder and later in the same season came into use also in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League. For the following season he moved to the Springfield Falcons, but had a mishap when he first re- injured his shoulder and then suffered a concussion, which meant the end of the season for him after just twelve games. But Spurgeon returned to the 2008/ 09 season, but was unable to repeat his good performance. The season 2009/10 he spent a total of three different teams in the minor leagues in North America and has advanced to become one of the most important points of the hunter Idaho Steelheads.

In the summer of 2010, the Austrian first division side EC KAC invited him to a try-out training.
