Universe of Metro 2033

The Metro 2033 Universe is a book series, based on the dystopian novel Metro 2033 by Russian author Dmitry Gluchowski from 2007 and should continue to tell the idea of ​​a basic novel.

Background

The plot of the original novel takes place in a future Moscow, the aboveground part is uninhabitable after a nuclear war, so that the survivors are forced to live in the partially destroyed also Metro. Dmitri Gluchowski has created with his novel, a vision which is illustrated in the various books of the Metro 2033 universe. His intention is that he wants different writers from all over the world move to describe one and the same fictional world and thus give rise to an alternative reality. So in the previously published books more and more protagonists and their fates are introduced in this "great post-apocalyptic saga ".

At first there was only novels that played in the regions of Russia, but the universe was expanded by the participation of an Italian and a British author in the years 2010/2011 on the Russian borders. In future it is planned yet to share more authors from different countries in this project. In German translation booth 2012 were previously only available books about Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

The Moscow Metro

  • The Blacks - humanoid creatures with a skin of earthy black leather, trying to take contact with the people. Their camp is located in the former botanical garden. Thanks to an open hermetic gate they enter the metro and move in the direction of VDNKh. They are difficult to stop and can build psychological pressure towards the people. They stride even further ahead if they are stopped with heavy machine gun fire.
  • Librarians - The physique resembles that of a gorilla. They live in the ruins of the Lenin Library and attack each noise source. They have very sharp curved claws that can inflict deep wounds the enemy. Furthermore, they can imitate human speech. They are probably the product of a human mutation.
  • Molodjoschnaja mutants - Since the station Molodjoschnaja is exposed to the west of the Serpuchowsko - Timirjasewskaja - line strong radiation are its inhabitants mutated strong and have parapsychological abilities developed.

The Petersburg Metro

  • Zombel - The Zombel have completely lost by the continued contamination of their humanity. Much like the zombies, after which they are named, they are driven only by basic sensations such as hunger and pain.
  • Blokadniks - Whether Blokadniks human origin is unclear. There are large, bipedal humanoid creatures that usually occur singly. Since virtually no one survived an encounter with them, little is known about them.
