The University of Wollongong, UOW short, is a university in Wollongong in the Australian state of New South Wales.

The University of Wollongong was founded in 1951 from the New South Wales University of Technology out initially as Wollongong University College. Since 1975, the university is under the present name.

At the University of approximately 22,000 students are enrolled. In addition to the main site Wollongong and Shoalhaven City campus in the college has locations in Bega, Batemans Bay, Nowra, Moss Vale and Sydney ( Sydney Business School ). Since 1993, a branch office, the University of Wollongong exists in Dubai ( UOWD ) in the United Arab Emirates.

1999/2000 the University of Wollongong was awarded the "Outstanding Research and Development Partnerships" and 2000/2001 awarded the prize "Preparing Graduates for the e-world ."
