Location

Unlingen lies between the Upper Swabian mountain buses and the Danube.

History

History

Unlingen was first mentioned in documents in 1163. 1291 Unlingen came to the House of Habsburg, and was thus one of Further Austria. End of the 14th century, the Steward of Waldburg had large parts of the town. 1525 was Unlingen where gathered 2,000 farmers, one of the starting points of the Peasants' War. In the Thirty Years' War Unlingen was destroyed by both imperial and by Swedish troops. 1635 pulled the plague much of the population out.

In 1806 Unlingen the Kingdom of Württemberg and the upper office Riedlingen been assigned. Religions

Already in 1269 a parish was mentioned in Unlingen. 1414 the Franciscan monastery " Visitation " was founded. 1782 lifted Emperor Joseph II to the monastery.

Policy

Since 1975 there is an agreed management community with the city Riedlingen.

In the local elections on 13 June 2004, the following distribution of seats was:

  • FWG - 46.7 % (-4.7 ) - 6 seats (-1)

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows in gold ( yellow) on green Dreienberg standing a gold reinforced rotgezungten Black Eagle with Austrian shield in his right claw. This coat of arms was the church in 1682 by Emperor Leopold. I. awarded.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Federal highway 311 binds to Unlingen to the national road network. She is very busy in the local area. Therefore, it was started on September 5th, 2013 in the presence of German Transport Minister Ramsauer with the construction of a 6 km long bypass. Construction is expected by 2017.

Unlingen is located on the Donautalbahn from Donaueschingen to Ulm. Currently hold in the community but no more moves. In addition, the Federseemuseum train to Bad Schussenried was 1916 - Riedlingen opened last narrow gauge line of Baden-Württemberg with the remaining piece of Dürmentingen to Riedlingen and 1960 shut down and subsequently degraded. Unlingen is located on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route.

Structures

In Unlingen is the Catholic parish church of Mary Immaculate, a 1713 consummate Baroque church with altar of Riedlinger sculptor Johann Joseph Christian and his son Franz Joseph Christian. Beside it baroque monastery chapel of St. Mary of the Visitation of the 17th century was part of the former Franciscan monastery, whose partly reaching back to the 15th century building stock was partially demolished. The oldest preserved from the monastery buildings, namely East and West wing of the monastery date back to the 1671.

In Dietel Mayrhofen is the Baroque Church of St. Nicholas, which dates back to a chapel from the 14th century. Among the art treasures of the church include various saints from the 15th century, including those kept in the Diocesan Museum Rottenburg crescent Madonna from the Ulm Syrlin workshop to 1480th

In Göffingen is the Baroque Church of St. Nicholas, which is occupied since the 13th century and got its present shape through conversions in the second half of the 18th century. The church has late Baroque decorative paintings by Martin Kuen.

In Möhringen was once one mentioned in the 16th century Lady Chapel, which was replaced in the course of the survey for the independent parish from 1863 to 1865 by the neo-Romanesque church of St. Vitus. For church treasure include liturgical equipment of the previous building.

In Uigendorf is the Baroque Church of St. Ulrich, which is demonstrated in the late 13th century and acquired its present shape through conversions of the 17th and 18th centuries. The oldest part of the church is 1699 West Tower. Art historically significant are saints, Pieta, crucifix and candlesticks angels from the 15th and 16th centuries.
