USL Premier Development League

The USL Premier Development League (PDL ) is an amateur football league in the United States, Canada and Bermuda.

It is under the United Soccer Leagues and is considered jointly with the National Premier Soccer League as the fourth- highest level in American football. An ascent or descent control does not exist. The league was founded in 1995 following the restructuring of the regional North American football. In the 2013 season occurred a total of 64 teams in four Conferences on with two divisions (Eastern three).

The USL PDL is primarily an amateur league, but it also increasingly take part in teams at the game mode that pay their players. Since 2007, eight teams qualify for the USL DPL for participation in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The squad size is limited to 26 players, of which no more than eight to be over 23 years old, 3 players must be younger than 18. The League will be used in the summer months during the season break in the College Soccer by many college players, as the players can participate in the league without losing their college eligibility to play.

Some teams also serve as a minor league team for franchise in Major League Soccer and the USL Professional Division.
