The Victoria University, abbreviated as VU, is a public university in the state of Victoria in Australia.

The college was founded in 1916 as Footscray Technical School. In 1968 the company was renamed Footscray Institute of Technology in 1991 and the merger with the Western Institute for today's Victoria University. In 1998, the Western Melbourne Institute of TAFE was incorporated.

The VU is divided into eleven locations in Melbourne ( City Flinders, City King, City Queen, Footscray Nicholson, Footscray Park, Melton, Newport, St Albans, Sunbury, Sunshine and Werribee ). The Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music is run as an independent institution.
