Villaputzu

Villaputzu is a town with 4811 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the region Sarrabus - Gerrei in Sardinia and in the Province of Cagliari. Villaputzu is between 8 and 11 m above sea level and on the highway and 45 km over the mountain road 69 km from the capital, Cagliari. It covers an area of ​​181.28 km ².

The name comes from " Because bidda'e putzu ", which probably means the "land of the sacred well ". In the Middle Ages it was called " Villa Pupia " or "Villa Pupassi ".
