Vychegodsky

Wytschegodski (Russian Вычегодский ) is an urban-type settlement, established in 1942 in north-west Russia. It belongs to the city district Kotlas within the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 12,861 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

Wytschegodski lies about 485 kilometers southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Arkhangelsk. The place is located about 10 km upstream and east of the city Kotlas on the left bank of an arm of the eponymous Vychegda.

Infrastructure

Wytschegodski is on the built in World War II railway Konosha - Kotlas - Vorkuta ( Pechora railway line kilometers from Moscow in 1094, 388 from Konosha ), which bypasses the city Kotlas south. Here a line branches off from the city Kotlas; to Kotlas Severny station ( Kotlas North ), originally opened in 1899 endpoint of the railway from Perm on Kirov ( Vyatka at that time ). The train station of Wytschegodski means Solvychegodsk after just ten kilometers north, located on the far north shore oldest city in the region for their connection, the station was initially built.
