Vyksa

Vyksa (Russian Выкса ) is a city in Russia. It has 56 201 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) and is located in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, 186 km south-west of Nizhny Novgorod away.

History

Even in the 16th century metal craft was used in the area of ​​today's Vyksa, which is due to the local iron ore deposits. In the 1760s it took the two brothers Bataschow, before manufacturers in Ironforge city of Tula, and began to tap into the local deposits. At the same time they founded in 1767, a metal processing factory and a workers' settlement, which was named after a small river Vyksa.

The status of a city received Vyksa 1934; a few years before it became the administrative center of a Rajons of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

Economy and Transport
