History

In 1198 the name Waldheim was first mentioned. 1271 was the first written mention of the castle, which was under markmeißnischer country rule. In 1286 Waldheim became a town. In 1537 the Reformation was introduced.

In GDR times, the VEB Typodruck Oschatz ran a children's camp in the district Massanei.
