Walls of Jericho is the debut album by Helloween. It was released in 1985 on Noise International.

Genesis

The album was preceded by a published in the same year self-titled EP, which is also referred to as mini - LP.

On Walls of Jericho and the Judas single can be heard for the last time Kai Hansen on vocals. Even on the short Judas Tour 1986, the band tried, Ralf Scheepers (formerly with Tyran Pace, later together with Hansen in Gamma Ray ) to win as a singer, as Hansen with the double burden vocals / guitar felt increasingly uncomfortable. Since Scheepers however, did not want to enter in the long term, committed Helloween 1987 the then 18 -year-old Michael Kiske.

Music style

On the debut album by the melodic and fast style Helloweens is already fully developed, albeit with considerably less cheerful painting. Also, the full power ( not always accurate ) Singing Hansen helped that the songs still sounded much harder than the following Keeper albums.
