Geography

Geographical Location

Waeschenbeuren is on the edge of the virgin forest on the Hohenstaufen between the Fils Valley and the Rems valley, about 10 kilometers north of the county town of Göppingen.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the towns of Lorch and in Schwäbisch Gmünd Ostalb, the east and south of the county town of Göppingen and to the west by Birenbach and Börtlingen.

Community structure

To Waeschenbeuren include the village Waeschenbeuren, the hamlet Krettenhof, Lindenbronn and Wäscherhof, the homestead prey mill and the houses Schützenhof ( also Birenbach ) and brick cottage and the village Outbound Holzweiler.

History

The council has 12 members in Waeschenbeuren. The municipal election held on 7 June 2009 yielded the following result:

The council consists of the elected honorary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: In red and green with a silver slant Links beam split- label behind a golden table a standing woman dressed in black ( laundress ) with silver headdress, with his left hand a laid across the table silver sheet and raised in his right hand a golden Schlegel cautious, bottom left an oval, upright asked golden washtub.

The King Maximilian I on September 14, 1491 the mayor and the village court granted patent of nobility was destroyed in the bombing on April 19, 1945 but there is one in 1942 by Alois Rettenmaier from Schwäbisch Gmünd -made, verbatim copy of the text.

Despite the age of the speaking coat of arms and the permission to run it on seals, it was only introduced in the 1930 mayor introduced official seal.

The red and white flag was presented by the Home Office on 14 February 1958.

Traffic

Waeschenbeuren is located on the main road 297 Göppingen - Lorch. Several bus lines are connecting to neighboring cities and communities ago:

The buses of bus and coach services often operate Göppingen 5-23 clock about once per hour to and from Göppingen, in the rush hour. Direction Lorch and in Schwäbisch Gmünd, there are fewer connections.

In Waeschenbeuren there with the Staufer school a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. Next leading schools are within available Realschule in Rechberghausen and high schools in Göppingen and Lorch, and are easy to reach by public transport.

Other community facilities

  • In the center is the finished in 2006, Hospice of the place. Carrier is the Lindenhof Foundation. It was named after Cardinal Walter Kasper, who lived in his childhood from 1938-1946 in the old schoolhouse.
  • Besides the Catholic church is the home of the Catholic Youth Waeschenbeuren. The home is a major meeting place for the local youth, there find screenings and festivals take place.

Museums

The Wäscherschloss in the district is Wäscherhof and houses a collection of about Staufer history.

Structures

In addition to the Wäscherschloss are the Catholic Church, with its interesting nave and the office building as well as the former train station that is now used as a nursery, worth seeing.

North of the village you will find the remains of the castle Burren, one of the High Middle Ages, probably staufer between lowland castle on the " Burren ".

  • John the Evangelist Kuhn (1806-1887), Catholic theologian, was born in Waeschenbeuren
  • Bernhard Kaisser (1834-1918), teacher and author, was born in Waeschenbeuren
  • Manfred Wörner (1934-1994), Minister of Defence and NATO Secretary General, lived since 1973 in the district Wäscherhof and in 1994 was appointed honorary citizen.
