Weightlifting at the 1972 Summer Olympics
In the XX. 1972 Olympic Games in Munich nine competitions were held in weightlifting. The event took place from 27 August to 6 September 1972, the Weightlifting Hall on the fairgrounds. The Olympics at the same time represented the World Weightlifting Championships this year.

Participants: 17 weightlifters from 13 countries Finals on August 27, Charlie Depthios from Indonesia set a new world record in pushing in an additional attempt with 132.5 kg.
Bantamweight (up to 56 kg )
Participants: 24 weightlifters from 19 countries Final on 28 August Koji Miki from Japan set a new world record in the snatch in an additional attempt to 114.0 kg.
