Weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's 85 kg

The Men's Weightlifting in the class up to 85 kg ( Light Heavyweight ) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 3 August 2012 at the Exhibition Centre London. It occurred in 23 athletes.

The competition consisted of two parts: Tear ( Snatch ) and put ( Clean and Jerk ). The participants were divided into two groups at first in the snatch, in which they had three attempts. Who did not have a valid attempt was eliminated. In pushing each starter had three attempts again. Won The athlete with the highest weight added together. In the event of a tie, the lower body weight tipped the scales.

Apti Auchadow won the first Russian ( non- Soviet ) Medal, Kianoush Rostami the first Iranian medal in this weight class. Both the Iranians Sohrab Moradi, two-time Asian champions, as well as Andrei Rybakou, two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist, managed a valid attempt in the snatch and thus eliminated from. Defending champion Lu Yong of China, in a leading position after rupture, was able to complete a valid attempt in the jerk and was thus disqualified.
