Wellington Rugby Football Union
The Wellington Rugby Football Union ( WRFU ) is the national rugby union Provincial Association for the New Zealand capital Wellington and the suburbs Porirua, Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt. The association and team colors are black and yellow. The selection team of the Association in the national championship ITM Cup, which is called Wellington Lions, bears out their home games at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
Wellington, the New Zealand Cup (formerly the National Provincial Championship ) won four times. In addition, the team in 1904 won the first game at the Ranfurly Shield and was eight times more in possession of the trophy.
Players from Wellington make up the majority of the team Hurricanes, who plays in the international Super Rugby championship. For this reason, the home games of the Hurricanes will also be held in Wellington.
