Wolfegg is a municipality and a health resort in Upper Swabia, district of Ravensburg in southern Baden -Württemberg ( Germany ).

Geography

Geographical location

The community Wolfegg located in Upper Swabia at the transition to the Western Allgäu in the immediate vicinity of the two spa towns of Bad Waldsee and Bad Wurzach. It extends on the eastern edge of the forest on Altdorfer 539-731 m above sea level. NN. By Wolfegg Wolfegger Oh, a tributary of the Schussen flows.

At Wolfegg following municipalities border on: In the north the town of Bad Waldsee, in the east of the town of Bad Wurzach and the community Kißlegg, in the west with the municipality of Vogt and to the west the municipalities schlier and Bergatreute.

Community structure

The municipality Wolfegg include not only the eponymous site of the nucleus from the four places Alttann, water, Molpertshaus ( with the railway junction Rossberg ) and Rötenbach.

History

Rötenbach as the oldest partial town was first mentioned in 861. Alttann follows 1179. Molpertshaus In the 13th century ( 1258 ) and Wolfegg be even called ( 1275 ) for the first time. Molpertshaus fall in 1362 to the monastery of red in the Thirty Years' War the Swedes Wolfegg burn down. see also ruin Hohentann, castle Neutann

The community shared over the centuries the story of Wolfegg Castle, seat of the Princes of Waldburg- Waldsee Wolfegg and out of the house Waldenburg. After the media coverage due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss circuit Wolfegg came to the Kingdom of Württemberg, where it was assigned to the upper office Waldsee.

Religions

Wolfegg is dominated Roman Catholic as the surrounding countryside. The community is home to the parish of St. Catherine in Wolfegg, the parish of St. Nicholas in Alttann, the parish of St. Catherine in the parish of St. James and Molpertshaus Maior in Rötenbach. All parishes are part of the deanery Waldsee.

The Protestant church Alttann, founded in 1888, covers the political communities Wolfegg and Bergatreute and some small border areas of the surrounding communities. The diaspora community is part of the Dean's Office Ravensburg and has 860 members (as of 2004).

Parish council

The local council of Wolfegg has a total of 16 seats. Of these, four seats for women and twelve men are occupied since the local elections of 7 June 2009. Five seats are assigned to the Civil constituency association ( BWV ), six seats on the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and five seats on the Independent voters Community ( UWG). More voting member of the council and its chairman is the mayor.

Mayor

Mayor of the Municipality is Peter Müller. He was elected on 3 December 2006 with 55.6 percent of the votes in the first ballot. His office, he joined on 15 February 2007. The term of office shall be eight years and shall expire on 14 February 2015.

Wolfegg is located on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route.

Museums

  • The Farmhouse Museum Wolfegg of the district of Ravensburg conveys with 15 historic buildings insight into the residential, working and living conditions of the rural population.
  • The automobile museum by Fritz B. Busch with 3,000 m² of exhibition space is situated in two buildings of Wolfsegger castle. The collection built up by the motoring journalists and collectors Fritz B. Busch comprises around 200 cars, motorcycles and tractors a cross-section through the history of motorization.

Music

Annually held three concert cycles in Wolfegg:

  • On the last weekend in June, the International Wolfsegger concerts. Artistic director is the conductor Manfred Honeck. Venues are Wolfegg Castle, the parish church and the old parish.
  • On the 2nd weekend in September found under the artistic direction of conductor Michael Hofstetter, the International Festival Baden- Württemberg place ( guest performance of the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival ). Venues are also Castle, Parish Church and Old Parish.
  • From 31 December to and including 6 January each year the Winter Music takes place. Around the Beethoven Trio Ravensburg present changing occupations chamber music.

Structures

  • Princely Castle: Castle Wolfegg
  • The Parish Church of St. Catherine is one of the most splendid baroque churches of Upper Swabia. It was built in 1733-1736 by Johann Georg Fischer, the equipment comes from Johannes Schütz ( plasterer Wessobrunner the school ), Franz Anton Erler ( frescoes from designs by Francis Joseph Spiegler ) and Caspar de Crayer ( altarpieces of 1660 ). The Baroque organ is the only surviving work of Jacob hearing, a student of Joseph Gabler. From Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, the Wolfsegger Fastentuch issued in 1620 in the church.
  • The parish church of St. James Maior in the suburb Rötenbach. On the ceiling fresco from 1944 by August Brown, an artist from Wangen im Allgäu, Adolf Hitler should be shown with glasses.

Sports

The Motorsport Club Bad Waldsee organized in Wolfegg grass track racing.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The breakpoints Alttann and Wolfegg and the operating station Rossberg lie at the Württemberg Allgäu railway Aulendorf - Kißlegg. There is connection to the regional trains to Aulendorf, Memmingen and Lindau. In the district of Rossberg branches off from the Rossberg train to Bad Wurzach. On this route only freight and excursion traffic is operated on certain Sundays in the summer.
