1997–98 Alpenliga season
The 1997/98 season was the sixth regular hosting of the Alps league in hockey, which was held with a total of nine professional teams from Austria and Slovenia. Defending champion was the VEU Feldkirch, which was able to secure this season for the third time in a row the championship.

Participants and mode
After last year only two Italian teams had participated in the league, was the number of participants in this season only from Slovenian and Austrian teams, which were, however, remained the same.
In the regular season, first a simple round-trip round was played, which meant sixteen games for each team. After the finalists were determined in two tournaments. The teams on the ranks 1, 4, 5, and 8 were in Group A, those assigned to the ranks 2, 3, 6 and 7 of group B. The two group winners finally came in the finals against each other.

With the draw in the second game of the VEU Feldkirch conquered the Alps third league title in a row.
