2004 OFC Nations Cup

The football Ozeanienmeisterschaft 2004 ( engl.: OFC Nations Cup ) was the seventh playout of the oceanic continental championship in football and was from May 29 to June 6, 2004 for the second time after 1998 in Australia. The matches were played in the Hindmarsh Stadium and the Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide. At the tournament took with Australia, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tahiti, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu only six teams participate. Australia and New Zealand were set for the main competition. The remaining countries had advance to contest a qualifying round. Everyone has been played in league system against everyone. The finale, however, with return game.

The competition was down to the final games at the same time as the Oceania zone qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany.

Australia won his fourth title and was qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2005 in Germany.

Qualification

The qualification was the same as the first round of the Oceania zone qualifying for the World Cup 2006.

Group 1

The games in Group 1 took place in May 2004 at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara in the Solomon Islands instead.

The Solomon Islands and Tahiti qualified as best finisher in Group 1 for the Oceania Championship 2004.

Group 2

Vanuatu and Fiji qualify as best finisher in Group 2 for the Oceania Championship 2004.

Both teams played in September 2005 in the third qualifying round of the Oceania zone for the Football World Cup 2006 again against each other. There, too, Australia won a total clear 7-0 and 2-1 and qualified for the intercontinental play-off against Uruguay, which won just one and thus qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2006.
