2013 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships

The 40th Canoe Sprint World Championships were held from August 27 to September 1, 2013 in Duisburg instead. Competition venue was the race course Duisburg in Duisburg Sports Park. The event was organized by the International Canoe Federation, organizers of the German Canoe Association, which also has its headquarters in Duisburg.

Prehistory

The title fights were initially awarded to Szeged (Hungary ), which had been taken over the orientation of the 2011 World Cup in 2010 after short-term withdrawal from Vichy (France). After the award was issued to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil ), which would become the first South American World Cup site. However, since the local venues could not be completed due to lack of financial resources, gave the Brazilian Canoe Federation World Cup back in September 2012. In a short bidding process of the award went to the German Canoe Association.

Program

The competition program included race in canoes and kayak for men and women in one, two and four. Path lengths were 200, 500, 1000 and 5000 meters. On the final day, there were also three decisions in the 4x200m relay teams in one kayak ladies and gentlemen, and the one-man canoes of Lords. Thus, the program included 37 decisions. On the first three days, there were races in Paracanoe for athletes with physical disabilities, who were part of the official World Cup. The races in Parcanoe were held over a distance of 200m in twelve different boat or damage classes. The boat classes in Paracanoe were kayak ( K1) and outrigger canoe (V1).

Framework Programme

After the race several musicians and artists performed in the evening at the Canoe World Championships Plaza next to the event stage at the Sportpark Duisburg in the program. Paracanoeing

All Paracanoeing competitions are run over a distance of 200 m. The classification of boat classes is based on movement ability of the legs, arms and trunk. It will be held regattas in twelve classes of boat.
