The Rijksweg 8 is a highway in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands, which runs in an east -west direction and with a length of 10 km is one of the shortest highways in the Netherlands. It starts at Knooppunt Coenplein in the north of Amsterdam, and continues to the north on the eastern outskirts of Zaanstad over. Shortly thereafter, the highway ends at the exit " Assendelft ". It is used at the moment rather than bypassing the municipality of Zaanstad.

Plans provide for the A8 continues to extend to the west. The plans but were not pursued by the oil crisis in 1974. Currently options are checked again, but the plans dragged on because the funding was not secured.

The A8 is currently being diverted via the N246 and the N203.
