Banteln

Banteln is a municipality in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony. The municipality is part of the velvet municipality Gronau at (Leine), which has its headquarters in the town of Gronau (Leine).

Geography

Geographical location

Banteln located in Leinebergland east of the Nature Park Weser mountain country Schaumburg -Hameln and is crossed by the line. It is located south of Elze and southwest of Gronau. The ridge Külf in which the observation tower Cölleturm stands, stretches south.

History

997 Banteln was first mentioned.

Origin of the name

Old names of the place names are 997 Bantanon, 1043 Banthenem 1149 Banthenheim, 1178 Bantenum 1205 Banthenem, 1304 Bantenem 1321 Bantelen.

Perhaps the most difficult part of the Old High German name " banz ". Related to appear Spanish " banda " for " stripe on a river ," Lower Rhine " bande, bende, finish " for " meadow ". This word appeared exclusively on in place names. This interpretation, however, is very uncertain, and it is so far to find no convincing interpretation.

Heraldic shield divided diagonally left of silver and blue; above a right -facing, rotbewehrter and gezungter black eagle head, down a slight left lying silver crossbow shaft.

A partnership exists with the French community Brécey since 1992.

Clubs

The MTV is the biggest club in Banteln. In the division soccer there are 2 men's teams (1st Men's 3rd district league and 2 Men 4 circle class), as well as several youth teams, women's teams and old men, and there is also the deals in the sports of table tennis, volleyball, gymnastics, track and children's gymnastics participate, while guests can also play tennis behind the Bantelner natural swimming pool. There is also a shooting club.

Regular events

  • Banteln is in August each year hosts the largest Boßel tournament in the southern district of Hildesheim, in which 70 teams participate. Organized by MTV Banteln and the volunteer fire department Banteln.

Infrastructure

Traffic

Banteln is connected via the Federal Highway 3, which runs through the town to the road network. The train station there on the railway line between Hanover and Göttingen. It is operated by the metronom Railroad Company.

Education

There is a primary school.
