Bath and North East Somerset

Bath and North East Somerset ( often referred to as BANES or B & NES for short) is an administrative unit, a so-called unitary authority, in southwest England. It borders Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

Bath and North East Somerset arose in the course of municipal reform in 1996 after the county County of Avon was abolished, from the former districts of Bath and Wansdyke. For ceremonial purposes it is part of the county of Somerset.

The main town is Bath, here also is the administrative seat. Bath and North East Somerset belongs to the region South West England. To Bath and North East Somerset Bath next includes the villages of Bathford, Chew Magna, Kelton, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Swineford.
