Berg im Attergau

Berg im Attergau is a municipality in Upper Austria in Vöcklabruck district in the Salzkammergut with 991 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district franc market.

Geography

Berg im Attergau is on 654 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The extension is from north to south 10 km, from west to east 5.7 km. The total area is 20.4 km ². 30.4 % of the area is forested, 61.3 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Quarters are: tree, mountain in Attergau, Brandham, Eggenberg, Iron Palm Village, Engljähring, hipping, Jedlham, Katterlohen, Pössing, Raith, Rixing, Rubens village, Thanham, Wötzing, Walsberg. Mountain bordering incidentally also on the Attersee.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Argent, a green, flat top, about two blue, six-pointed stars. The municipality colors are green and white.

The 1978 coat of arms granted poses with the green mountain is the place name, the green color on agriculture and tourism as the most important branches of industry indicating the residents. The two stars represent the two formerly independent communities of mountain and Eggenberg, which were merged in 1938.

History

The story mountain in Attergau is closely linked with that of St. Georgen im Attergau. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. Since 1848 Mountain is an independent municipality. Berg has emerged from the two independent municipalities mountain and Eggenberg by merging in 1938.

The ring wall on the book mountain

1974 was discovered during archaeological excavations under the direction of Clemens Eibner the outlines of a 400 -meter-long ring wall. One can assume that around 1500 BC the inhabitants of the lake dwellings have abandoned their settlements on the lake and came up out here. The plant itself but was fixed later.

Barrow

In the vicinity of the mountain there is a larger number of burial mounds from the La Tène period, of which the Bundesdenkmalamt three grave sites were opened in 2005 and 2006.

Mayor is Franz Steinbichler of the People's Party, Deputy Mayor Ernst Pachler also of the ÖVP.

Population Development

In 1991 the municipality had 1,106 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 987 inhabitants and under the RTA 2008 census 1,003 inhabitants.
