Tiefgraben

Deep trench is a municipality in Upper Austria in Vöcklabruck district in Hausruckviertel with 3732 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Mondsee.

Geography

Deep trench is located on 740 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 9.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 7.8 km. The total area is 38.2 km ². 52.1 % of the area is forested, 41.6 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality colors are yellow-blue - white.

The coat of arms was granted in 1985. The upper third refers to the location of the village in the valley of Zeller Ache bounded by Kolomannsberg in the west and from the east and Lackberg declares hence the place name. The two blue boxes represent the Mondsee and the Mondsee, which form the southern and northern boundary of the municipality. The typical dugout was already used in the Neolithic period at the Mondsee and has survived to this day.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed.
