Gampern

Gampern is a municipality in Upper Austria in Vöcklabruck district in Hausruckviertel with 2716 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The competent jurisdiction is Vöcklabruck.

Geography

Gampern is located on 509 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 5.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.8 km. The total area is 26.1 km ². 19.2 % of the area is forested, 71.3 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Gampern is called for the first time about the year 800 under the name Campara in the tradition book of Mondsee. Since 1143 it was the Collegiat - Mattsee incorporated as a subsidiary of Voecklamarkt until an independent parish in 1900. The Mattsee remained the right of patronage.

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the village belonged to the Upper Danube. After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Between golden flanks in Azure, a late Gothic winged altar with Mensa, predella, middle shrine, two wings and five-part conversation tightness. The municipality colors are yellow - blue-yellow. Established in 1974, granted coat of arms shows in stylized form the art-historical importance winged altar of the parish church.

Culture and sights

  • Parish church of St. Remigius: A special attraction is the altarpiece in the late Gothic parish church Gampern. The altar is the third largest Gothic altarpiece in Upper Austria, produced in the period 1497-1507.
  • Denkmalhof core story house in Pöring: Former Austraghaus of Kapeller, smoke house in block construction, today museum of local history.
