The train station Berlin- Grunau is a rail station in the district of Treptow-Köpenick district of Grunau.

History

The station began as a simple breakpoint with two side platforms on September 13, 1866. With the growth Grünaus in the late 19th century - mainly due to the outgoing from here sailing - also increased the traffic at the station, so the station in 1889 received the first reception building. At about the same time received the station to distinguish it from other places of the same name the addition (Mark). Eleven years later, also disappeared, the two side platforms and were replaced by a central platform. The expansion of the Görlitz line in the years 1902 to 1906 made a short time after the demolition of the platform necessary since the entire route was to just behind Grunau brought into an embankment and given its own pair of tracks for the increasing suburban traffic. Since this was his end point in Grunau, the station was prepared accordingly and given two central platforms - a misfiring here for suburban services and one for the run on the remote tracks traffic until after King Wusterhausen - and a south then depot maintenance of the trains. The latter was only four years after completion of the course work in operation.

1920 Grunau is incorporated to Berlin, the station receives a short time later to the name still used today Berlin- Grunau.

In 1928, the entire route is electrified suburban Görlitz up to and including Grunau with the usual up to now DC system via lateral busbar. On November 6, 1928, the first trains of the later "S -Bahn " from Neukölln Coming roll by Grunau. Here in ending the D train groups of Wilmersdorf Friedenau (now Federal court), G and H of Mahlsdorf of Spandau West (now Spandau) coming.

The Germania plans provided for the continuation of the S -Bahn traffic over Grunau afield to King Wusterhausen in the 1930s. The project was, however, due to the Second World War initially not on the planning stage.

1948 received a third platform for the trains running on the freight outer ring DMUs to Lichtenrade or Wuhlheide Kaulsdorf and the train station. This was located west of the remote tracks. For the March 21, 1951 this was closed. No six weeks later, on April 30, but the S -Bahn was extended until after King Wusterhausen. The track layout was changed accordingly, so that the S-Bahn trains stopped only at the two central platforms, remote tracks led past the other hand, without stopping at the station. The project was directly linked to the closure of the Görlitz station the day before, which was in West Berlin.

At the end of the year, there was also north of the station, the Gruenauer cross, a point of attachment of Görlitz line and the Berlin outer ring. For the trains on the freight outer ring between Grunau and Lichtenrade a breakpoint in 1955 again put into operation, this time the platform, however, was on the connecting curve between Görlitz line and outer ring. As the old platform was this decommissioned after only three years, but not canceled until 1981.

After the construction of the Wall on August 13, 1961, the circle line developed with the southeast, Görlitz line to the north -south axis in the East Berlin S -Bahn network. The trains that were previously partially routed via the ring road in the western part of the city, now had to expose along the Görlitz line. Grunau was thereby temporarily endpoint of the train groups N ( coming from Bernau ) and H (coming from Friedrichstraße ).

After the turn changed little at the very first station. Only the market after King Wusterhausen was moved to the south ring from 1994 out while the trains that used the eastern ring road, ended in Grunau. The depot was closed in 1996 and 1998 for a temporary restoration. Since 2005 an electronic interlocking ( CBI ) regulates the tracks at the station, the old signal boxes still occupied Gaw and gas have been concluded with the opening of the new.
