Bloomingdale is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States, about 40 kilometers west of Chicago. According to the census, the city had 22,018 inhabitants in 2010.

History

Bloomingdale is one of the oldest churches that were founded on the territory of today's DuPage County. The Meacham family settled there first in 1833. Already in the following year had settled there about 12 to 15 families. The community was at the Chicago Galena Highway, now called Lake Street. The town was an important stop for stagecoaches and westward Reisende.Ursprünglich on Cook County belonging, it was the 1839 DuPage Counte affiliated and a year later added as a community. The northern part became commercially while the southern part remained rural. To take account of this development, the districts separated in 1922. The northern part was incorporated in Roselle. Between 1950 and 1980 the population grew from 338 to 12659 inhabitants.

According to the census of 2010, the municipality has an area of 18.2 km2, of which 96.3 % land area and 3.69% of water.

Demography

According to the census of 200 residents in 8219 lived 21675 households, of which 5662 families. The population density was 1238 people per square kilometer. There were 8398 houses in accordance with a building density of 479.7 houses per square kilometer.

Attractions

The Stratford Square Mall, which is located on the Springfield Road and Schick Road, is the largest shopping center in Bloomingdale. The internal open space contains five major department stores and over 150 specialty stores and restaurants.

Old Town Bloomingdale, located at the intersection of Lake Street and Bloomingdale Road, is a collection of small businesses and shops that are available at the site of the first settlement houses in the community in restored buildings.
