West Chicago is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in DuPage County in the northeast of the U.S. state of Illinois. In the census in 2010 West Chicago had 27 086 inhabitants.

West Chicago does not belong to the city of Chicago, but is part of the Chicago metropolitan area.

History

The former name of the city was Turner Junction, named after John B. Turner, president of the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad and founder of the city. Emerging is the name of the first railway crossing in Illinois.

1896 the town was renamed in West Chicago.
