Boxing at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's bantamweight
The bantamweight boxing competition of the men ( to 56 kg) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from July 28 to August 11, 2012 at the Exhibition Centre London. 28 boxers participated.
The competition was held in the knockout system. It started with the first round, which included 32 starting places. Since only 28 qualified boxer, four athletes were randomly assigned byes. The winners came into the second round, quarterfinals and semifinals. The winners of the semi-finals competing for the gold medal, both losers received the bronze medal.

Abdulhamidov was defeated in the last round of his fight against Shimizu six times to the ground. Only after the battle by the Turkmen referee Ishanguly Meretnyyazov was canceled. He was expelled from the Games because of his misconduct by the AIBA.
