The area Breakheart Reservation is a designated as a state park reserve in the area of the cities Saugus and Wakefield, Massachusetts in the United States. The park is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR ) and is part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston.

Description

The 640 acres (approx. 2,6 km ²) large park consists mostly of forest and is used mainly for bird watching, fishing and hiking. But there are also opportunities for mountain biking, swimming, an extra out designated area for dogs as well as public toilets and first aid facilities.

The park has two drinking water lakes ( Silver Lake and Lake Pearce ) and the Saugus River flows through it. Of the seven rocky hills of the protected area of one has a good view of Boston, central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

The Breakheart Parkways

On 11 August 2003, located in the protected area Breakheart Reservation Parkways were registered as Breakheart Reservation Parkways - Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston in the National Register of Historic Places. The system of parkways was designed by Charles Eliot and consists of the streets Forest Street, Pine Tops Road, Elm Road and Hemlock Road.
