Buix

Buix (French [ bɥi ], in the local dialect [( æ) bwɛ ]; German book) is a village and a former municipality in the district of Porrentruy in the canton of Jura in Switzerland.

Geography

Buix is located on 383 m above sea level. M., 8 km north- northwest of the district municipal seat Porrentruy (air line). The farming village extends into the Talniederung the Allaine in the northern Ajoie ( German Elsgau ), near the border with France.

With 462 inhabitants ( end of 2007) Buix was one of the smaller communities of the Canton of Jura. Of the 95.6 % inhabitants are French-speaking, Spanish-speaking 2.2 % and 1.1 % in German (as of 2000). The population of Buix amounted in 1850 to 453 residents in 1900 to 561 inhabitants. Economy

History
