Cheek to Cheek is a song by Irving Berlin, he I had ' written me dance into your heart into it (1935 ) for the Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers movie. In the film, Astaire sings the song during a dance with Rogers. The song was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1936 for the Academy Award for Best Song, but lost to Lullaby of Broadway from The Gold Diggers of 1935. Astaire's version remained in 1935 five weeks at No. 1 on Your Hit Parade and was there the most successful song of 1935. The version of Astaire with Leo Reisman Orchestra which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000.

The Antiphon "Heaven, I'm in heaven, and my heart beats so did I can hardly speak ... " (engl.: "Heaven, I 'm in heaven and my heart beats so fast that I can hardly speak ... ") was world famous. The song was added to the Great American Songbook. Berlin himself used parts of his song He Is not Got Rhythm 1937 from the movie Let's go strolling.

The song was used in two versions, one of Astaire and once by Ella Fitzgerald ( from the album Ella and Louis 1956) in the film The English Patient. A version of Glenn Miller found in Les Misérables (1995). Kenneth Branagh sang the song Lost in Love's Labour ( 2005). The original version of Astaire was in The Green Mile, Rain Man, AI - Artificial Intelligence and The Purple Rose of Cairo employed. Also in the movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps the song is played briefly.
