Chobot (Strakonice District)

Chobot is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers northeast of Blatná in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Chobot is located on the right bank of the creek Malkovsky creek in the hills Blatenská pahorkatina. Southeast extends the pond Labuť ( Labud ), to the west is the smaller pond Brloh. To the east of the Na Červenkách rises (500 m), in the south of Chobotský vrch ( 525 m) and the Střížovický vrch (541 m ) and the southwest Chobotská MYT ( Choboter Maid, 512 m).

History

In 1492 received Zdeniek Lev of Rosental by King Vladislav II Jagiello, approval for the application of a pond in the valley of the creek at Kostratecký Střížovice. At the end of the 16th century, the pond Střížovický rybnik was enlarged. The new, significantly higher dam was built about one kilometers below the old dam at Myštice and flooded the village Zároždice. Over time, the Střížovický was rybnik because of its shape as Labuť ( Swan) respectively.

In the second half of the 18th century the Counts Serényi of Kis- Sereny could create on Blatná above the Labuť a charcoal burners' camp, which was first mentioned in 1790 as Chobot writing. 1798 acquired the Barons of Hildprandt and Ottenhausen the rule.
