Pracejovice

Pracejovice ( German Pratzowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers west of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Pracejovice is located on the right side of the Otava, opposite the mouth of the Kolčavka ( Rissowsky ), in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. Southeast of the Holi V stands (435 m), in the south of the Kamenná bába ( 557 m) and the Haj (530 m ) and southwest of the Mladiny (600 m). On the southwestern outskirts of the pond Pracejovický fishpond is located. Against the southeast extends the forest Hůl. Through the town, the railway České Budějovice lead - Plzeň.

Neighboring towns are Střela and Dražejov in the north, Virt and Nový Dražejov in the northeast, Bažantnice, Sídliště Mir, Podskalí, Kalvárie, Strakonice and Stara Valcha in the east, Mutěnice, V Holi and Radošovice the southeast, Sousedovice, Smiradice and Drachkov in the south, Milčice and Makarov in the southwest, Stružský Mlýn, Koclov, Sloučín and Novosedly in the west and Liboc, Katowice and Pohodnice in the northwest.

History

The mean Otavatal was first settled in the 1st millennium BC, at the transition from the second, but are on the territory of the municipality no finds from this period were made. The oldest findings provide pieces of pottery is with graphite ornaments from the 1st century, attributable to the Celtic tribe of the Boii. In 1931, the archaeologist Bedřich Dubský discovered on dirt road between Pracejovice and Sloučín a Celtic hill grave. On the hill at Hradiště Sousedovice was located between the 8th and 10th century a Slavic fortified settlement. It is believed that Pracejovice was founded at the beginning of the 11th century by a family Pracejův. Since the 13th century the village belonged to the possessions of the Bavors of Strakonitz.

The first written mention of Pracejovice on 22 January 1308 as Bavors III. Strakonitz of the village along with the soaps, pond and meadows sold the Order of Malta. In the following five and a half centuries, the independent village was under the castle law administration of the Maltese. In 1840 there was Pratschowitz or Pratzowitz / Pračowice of 20 houses with 158 inhabitants. In the village there was a chapel. Abstruse was a hunting lodge. Vicarage was Strakonitz. Until the mid- 19th century, the village remained subservient always Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Pracejovice / Pratzowitz formed in 1850 with the districts Mukarov and Drachkov a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district of the Strakonice. 1921 Drachkov and Makarov broke loose from Pracejovice and formed their own communities. 1964 were incorporated again Drachkov and Makarov. After a referendum Drachkov became independent again on January 1, 1992.
