Drachkov

Drachkov ( German Drachkow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Drachkov located in the valley of the brook Drachkovský creek in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. South-east rises the Kamenná bába ( 557 m), in the south of KBIL (664 m ) southwest of the Haj (530 m) and in the west the Mladiny (600 m). To the north lies the pond Pracejovický fishpond.

Neighboring towns are Liboc, Katowice and Pracejovice in the north, Virt, Nový Dražejov, Podskalí, Kalvárie and Strakonice in the northeast, Stara Valcha Přední Ptákovice, V Holi, Mutěnice and Radošovice in the east, Sousedovice and Přední Zborovice the southeast, Libětice, Smiradice and Švejcarova Lhota in the south, Lhota u Svaté Anny in the south west, Makarov Milčice and in the west and Stružský Mlýn, Koclov and Sloučín in the northwest.

History

At the foot of the hill Kamenná bába to the traditions should have found by the Court of Vladiken Drahka.

The first written mention of villa Dracow took place in 1319 as the property of William Bavors of Strakonitz. Because of this, had no children, wrote about in 1336 bequeathed the rule Strakonitz the Order of Malta, who received it in 1356. In the Berni rula 1654 eight peasant farms and six gardeners are reported for Drachkov. In 1675, burned down three villages. In the first half of the 19th century, the village name changed in Drachkow. In 1840 Drachkow consisted of 22 houses with 145 inhabitants. In the village there was a chapel. Vicarage was Strakonitz. Until the mid- 19th century, the village remained subservient always Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Drachkov / Drachkow formed in 1850 a part of the community Pracejovice in the District Commission and the Court of District Strakonice. At this time, the village had 159 inhabitants. 1921 Drachkov broke loose from Pracejovice and formed its own community. 1964, the village was incorporated after Pracejovice. After a referendum Drachkov became independent again on January 1, 1992.
