Mnichov (Strakonice District)

Mnichov until 1924 Michov ( German Michow, 1939-45 Münchhof ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers north-west of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Mnichov is located in the hills of Blatenská pahorkatina. The village is located on the northeastern slope of the hill Haj above the valleys of the streams and creek Mnichovský Rachač. To the north rise the Droušný vrch ( 493 m), the Jiva (518 m) and the Hřeben ( 597 m ) in the north- east, the Lipová ( 488 m ) east of the Brezový vrch ( 571 m) and the Tisovník ( 589 m ) and the south of the Haj ( 525 m). North of the village lies the pond Mnichovský fishpond, fishpond in the east of Novokrtský.

Neighboring towns are Hlupín and Zadnà Zborovice in the north, Třebohostice, Borek and Únice in the northeast, Hubenov and Domanice in the east, Droužetice, Krty and Dražejov the southeast, Střela, Katowice and Pohodnice in the south, Dolni Poříčí and Horni Poříčí the southwest, Střelské Hoštice and Zadnà Hoštice in the west and Střelskohoštická Lhota and Saddleback in the northwest.

History

Mnichov was originally the seat of a Vladikefamilie Mnich. In 1243 Dobislawa donated by the Strakonitz by her husband Bavors I of Strakonitz at the Church of Sts. Prokop in Strakonice established formal Convent of St John 66 marks of silver for the purchase of other villages. The Order acquired it u.a Mnichav. This donation was confirmed in 1251 by Margrave Ottokar Přemysl and again in 1318 by Bavors brother and heir William of Strakonitz. As of 1569, the judge exercised in Mnichov from the lower jurisdiction over Krty and Hradec.

In 1840 Michow consisted of 77 houses with 294 inhabitants. A house - the abstruse points of Freihofstraße Borek - was submissive by Horaždiowitz. Vicarage was Katowice. Until the mid-19th century Michow remained subservient always Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Michov / Michow formed in 1850 with the districts Borek, Hradec Krty and a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district of the Strakonice. In 1883, the classes were held in a village school in einklassigen Michov. Since the 1890s, the village name was written as Michov. After the completion of the new school of two-class instruction was added in 1891. Krty and Hradec dissolved going on in December 1919 by Michov and merged to form the community Krty. Today's local name Mnichov was introduced in 1924. In 1938 was begun in three sections with the construction of a road between Strakonice, Dražejov, Krty and Mnichov. But was completed only the first section Strakonice Dražejov. During the German occupation Mnichov received the German name Münchhof. On 1 January 1974, the municipality was incorporated into Katowice. After a referendum Mnichov became independent again on 24 November 1990.
