Ciudad Perico

Perico is a city in northwestern Argentina. It is located in the southern province of Jujuy, 26 kilometers east of the provincial capital San Salvador de Jujuy and has 41 674 inhabitants (2001, INDEC ).

Location

Perico located in the valley of the Río Grande de Jujuy, the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the dewatered. The surrounding area is part of the vegetation zone of the cloud forest that is cut down in the valley itself but for the most part and is farmed intensively.

History

The city was founded on 29 October 1813.

Economy and Transport

Around Perico Tropical Agriculture is operated. In particular, the tobacco cultivation and the cultivation of citrus fruits are characteristic of the region.

In the municipality of Perico is the international airport of San Salvador de Jujuy.
