Coat of arms of Nauru
The design of the coat of arms of Nauru is from the year 1968, after the Declaration of Independence; officially began to use it in the early 1970s.
Description
The shield is divided and split below.
- Top in gold on the silver woven base chemical symbol for phosphorus.
- In the lower heraldic right ( from the viewer's left ) silver box sitting on a red crutch black frigate bird over five blue ocean waves.
- In the lower left blue box branch Tomanoblüten.
The bent out to the sides shield is adorned by golden cords. To the sides fittings made of palm fronds, feathers of the frigate bird and shark teeth.
A zwölfstrahliger silver star on the upper plate edge is taken from the flag. The floating silver band with black capital letters bears the name of the island in mikronesischem Nauru: Naoero.
The silver ribbon under the shield bears the motto of the Republic of Nauru in black capital letters :: "God 's Will First"
Symbolism
The woven background symbolizes the people of Nauru, the frigatebird the local fauna and flora Tomanozweig; the chemical symbol for phosphorus promoting phosphates. The shield is surrounded by the chiefs badge which they wore for celebrations - cords of palm fronds, feathers of the frigate bird and shark teeth.
