The Danubio Fútbol Club is a football club based in Montevideo, Uruguay.

General

The club name refers to the Spanish name for the Danube, the northern border river in Bulgaria with Romania. The club colors are black and white and are a tribute to the national champion of 1931, the Montevideo Wanderers FC. The diagonal stripes of the jersey is in turn borrowed the jersey of the Argentine giants River Plate CA. The club plays its home games at the Estadio Jardines del Hipódromo.

History

The club was founded on March 1, 1932 by Bulgarian immigrants. 1941 joined the club of the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF). Jadson Viera was about the only player who played in all 39 games.

Championship 2006/ 07

Overall, the club has, apart from the two clearly dominant Nacional and Peñarol, the most successful teams since the introduction of professional football in Uruguay. On September 17, 2012 Danubio Juan Ramón Carrasco presented at a press conference in succession by Daniel Sánchez as their new coach.
