Denis Alimov

Denis Alimov (Russian Денис Равильевич Алимов; May 3, 1979 in Moscow ) is a former Russian natural track luge. He also started in the recliner, but achieved his greatest successes together with novel Molwistow in doubles. They won at the 2004 European Championship and the silver medal at the 2006 European Championship bronze medal, achieved six podiums in World Cup race three times and reached the fifth place in doubles overall World Cup.

Career

Alimov started from 1996 in international junior championships. At the Junior European Championships in 1996 in Szczyrk he scored with Vadim Borosdin last but one tenth in doubles. Also tenth and last but one he was in the doubles at the Junior World Championship 1997 in Aosta, this time with Igor Zaitsev as a partner. In single-seater he finished 21th Place. From 1999 Alimov launched in doubles with Roman Molwistow. On January 24, 1999, he made ​​his World Cup debut in the Italian Agordo, was 15th in the single-seater and with Molwistow sixth in doubles. A week later he scored at the Junior World Championship 1999 in Huttau 14th place in the recliner, came in the doubles but with just under 16 seconds behind only the sixth and last place. With another sixth place in Herzogenaurach Alimov / Molwistow ended the two-seat World Cup of the season 1998/1999 to seventh place in the single-seater Alimov reached the 27th place overall, equal on points with Poland Waldemar Siąkała. In the season 1999/2000 Alimov was able to score in all six World Cup races in the single-seater. He ran five times in the top 20 and reached as the best race result to 16th place in the final in Fénis. He scored in the World Cup 17th place and therefore his best overall result in the single-seater. In doubles he could with Roman Molwistow points five times. In the first two World Cup races of the season 2000/2001 Alimov was only in the single-seater at the start. At the opening in Obergurgl he scored 13th place his best World Cup result in the single-seater. In the doubles duo Alimov / Molwistow with second place achieved in the third World Cup race in Lüsen, the first in which they took part in this winter, the first podium finish, while the best result in a World Cup races in her career. In the last two World Cup races in Moscow and Huttau followed by two third places, which they reached fifth place in the World Cup as last year. At the World Championship 2001 in Stein an der Enns Alimov started neither in A nor in doubles. In the 2001/2002 season Denis Alimov drove in single seaters in five World Cup races in the top 20 and was the overall World Cup 22 in doubles he took with Roman Molwistow part in four World Cup races. Only in two World Cup races took the duo Alimov / Molwistow part in the 2002/2003 season. They were once Fifth, Ninth and once in the overall standings Twelfth. Two weeks later they celebrated their biggest international success when they won at the 2004 European Championships in Huttau with a gap of 0.65 seconds on their compatriots Pavel and Ivan Lazarev Porschnew the silver medal in the doubles.

In the season 2004/2005 Alimov started in singles only in the last World Cup race, which he finished 28th. In doubles, however Alimov / Molwistow again took part in five of the six World Cup races. They drove all races under the seven fastest and best results achieved than two third places in Unterammergau and Latzfons, which they reached fifth place in the overall World Cup doubles in her career for the third time. At the World Championship 2005 in Laces they were sixth in doubles. They started for the first and only time in the team competition and occupied together with Julija Wetlowa and Alexander Yegorov in Team Russia II seventh place. In the season 2005/2006 Alimov participated in any World Cup single-seater racing. In doubles, the duo Alimov / Molwistow launched only in the first three races in which a fifth place in Kindberg their best result was and they were so in the overall World Cup tithe. Then it still took part in the 2006 European Championship in Obergurgl where they treasure / Muhlbacher won the bronze medal with the respective fourth fastest run time behind Porschnew / Lazarev and the Austrians. In single-seater Alimov launched after 31 term of the first round no longer in the second run.

For the first time in seven years Alimov and Molwistow started in the 2006/2007 season back in all six doubles World Cup races. In five races they sailed into the top seven, and achieved its best result to fourth place in Longiaru, which they were seventh in the World Cup. In single-seater Alimov participated in two World Cup races in part, but reached it only seats 25 and 29 and in the overall ranking 40th at the World Cup 2007 in Grande Prairie Alimov / Molwistow were like three other couples disqualified because the rails of their sled, the permissible maximum temperature have passed. In his last season 2007/2008 Alimov launched only in three two-seat World Cup races. He scored with a novel Molwistow seventh and ninth places two and thus the overall World Cup ranking twelve.
