Edward H. Moren

Edward Hawthorne Moren ( born December 25, 1825 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia; † March 19, 1886 in Centerville, Alabama) was by Andrew J. Applegate, the second Vice- Governor of the U.S. state of Alabama.

Edward Moren grew up in Virginia. His father Daniel Moren was also politically active: he completed several terms in the Senate of Virginia. After Edward Moren had his medical studies in New York City completed, he applied at the time of the Mexican War with the U.S. Army as an assistant surgeon. After the doctor of doctors in 1848 the army had turned his back, he moved to Bibb County in Alabama, and practiced there continues from the craft of surgeons. On July 5, 1860, he married Mary Frances in Centerville, whose ancestors also excelled in the political sphere.

1861 began his political career when he was elected as a representative of Perry County and Bibb County in the Senate of Alabama. During this time he became involved in finance and taxation committee as chairman of both committees. After the start of the Civil War, Moren again reported to the army, again as a surgeon. He later headed a hospital in Greenville.

1870, Moren was now employed by the University of Alabama, he was appointed lieutenant-governor of the state after a successful election. This was the highlight of his political career for him. He was the first deputy governor of Alabama, who belonged to the Democratic Party, and held this office for two years.
